The 3 things you must know before choosing a strain for gut health

Since this question gets asked quite a bit I decided to make a blog post of what I look for when choosing my strains to manage my gut issues.

Going from 84 pounds after being diagnosed with Crohns in 2006, and achieving full remission in 2009. I'm fortunate to have come across a lot of people who want to start using cannabis for gut health. Surprise. :-)

So here are the top three things I look for. Having said if  your working with a reputable supplier this information should be readily available.

  1. CBD Content

  2. THC Content

  3. Terpene Profile

  • The reason I listed CBD content first is because it supports mobility and soothes gut inflammation. Look to strains that are higher in CBD like CBD Cookies and Charlotte's Web.

  • THC content is important because of its appetite stimulating and pain relieving properties. Also to note, why CBD was put first, because THC’s effectiveness in the gut may be reduced if too much is consumed regularly.

  • Last, but definitely not least is the strains terpene profile., this is critically important because terpenes dial right into issues for effective relief. When selecting a strain look for terpene profiles high in beta-caryophyllene and myrcene for pain relief and anti-inflammatory properties.

Keeping a baseline of what you should look for when selecting a new strain is the first step to empowering yourself to effectively cooking with cannabis.

Leave a comment, let me know if this worked for you. I would love to hear from you.
